Seated Yoga
Seated Yoga
Seated Yoga classes are suitable for all abilities and levels and especially beneficial for those who may be limited with time and space. It is an easy way to incorporate yoga poses into the workplace, or for students working with an injury or disability, by allowing the student to experience all the benefits of yoga while staying seated. This form of Yoga Therapy awakens and rejuvenates your spirit, creating a stress-free environment in the body and in the mind.
Caution: For your safety please make sure that you are on a stable and safe surface before you proceed to practice. You may need to place a yoga mat under your chair if you are on a hard or slick surface. We suggest using only chairs that can support your body weight with movement.
Note: if you are in a wheelchair some of the poses may need to be modified to adapt to your space. If you are able to make your way into a stable chair on a stable surface you may have more freedom to move without restrictions. It is also suggested that you put your feet onto the floor for the practice if you can safely do so.
Adaptive Yoga Therapy
Yoga Health & Healing offers Adaptive Yoga Therapy classes which are meant for disabled students and their helpers. This form of integrative yoga therapy improves the quality of life for people with physical disabilities. Adaptive Yoga Therapy classes allow the students to experience the benefits of the yoga poses, with help of a teacher to guide a caregiver/helper. The student will work on connecting the mind with the body through a sequence of yoga poses.
