Seated Yoga

Seated Yoga
Seated Yoga classes are suitable for all abilities and levels and especially beneficial for those who may be limited with time and space. It is an easy way to incorporate yoga poses into the workplace, or for students working with an injury or disability, by allowing the student to experience all the benefits of yoga while staying seated. This form of Yoga Therapy awakens and rejuvenates your spirit, creating a stress-free environment in the body and in the mind.

Caution: For your safety please make sure that you are on a stable and safe surface before you proceed to practice. You may need to place a yoga mat under your chair if you are on a hard or slick surface. We suggest using only chairs that can support your body weight with movement.

Note: if you are in a wheelchair some of the poses may need to be modified to adapt to your space. If you are able to make your way into a stable chair on a stable surface you may have more freedom to move without restrictions. It is also suggested that you put your feet onto the floor for the practice if you can safely do so.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga includes standing and seated poses and uses props such as yoga blocks, blankets, bolsters or pillows, and sometimes yoga straps. Restorative Yoga releases tension in the body and in the mind. This calm approach allows the student to find contentment in each pose and peace in the mind, allowing one to open up to the present moment. By practicing this gentle and refreshing class the body engages in its natural ability to heal.

Integrative Yoga Therapy
Integrative Yoga Therapy brings the body back to right alignment through strengthening poses based in postural alignment techniques. This type of functional training allows new corrective patterns to form in the body and mind, promoting a healing process and eventually eliminating/reducing pain. The yoga poses will help to strengthen specific body parts and their surrounding muscles. Props such as yoga blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets and chairs may be used to assist the poses.
